Why businesses leave Jimdo
- Your content doesn't move with you. According to the Jimdo help pages, moving the domain does not transfer the website's content, and mailboxes stay behind too. So switching means a rebuild.
- Fixed terms with renewal. According to the Jimdo help pages, Jimdo plans have fixed terms and renew if you don't cancel in time.
- Add-ons are separate. According to the Jimdo help pages, domains and email packages are cancelled separately from the plan. That is easy to overlook when you switch.

How the move works
- 1
Back up what's there
We capture the text, images and layout of your Jimdo site while it's still online. If the mailboxes are moving too, save your important emails locally first.
- 2
Rebuild with preview
We build the new website. If you'd like, you see a draft first.
- 3
Point the domain or move it
Usually it's enough to point the domain at the new website. If it should leave Jimdo, the Jimdo help pages say you need an AuthCode, which you request in the domain settings.
- 4
Sort out email
We check whether your mailboxes are with Jimdo and plan the switch so no email gets lost.
- 5
Cancel the contract at the end of its term
You cancel in good time before the renewal date. Our billing only begins when your Jimdo contract ends, at the latest 5 months after you say yes.
Cancel Jimdo
According to the Jimdo help pages, you cancel your plan in your account under Subscription, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current contract term. It usually has to arrive at least one month before the renewal date, and add-ons such as domains are cancelled separately there. After cancellation, the site carries on as a free plan, says Jimdo. Check the exact end date in your account, because for contracts with a German billing address the Jimdo terms set different rules depending on the date you signed up.
