What speaks for STRATO?
- Cheap long-term price. According to the pricing page, Plus costs €12 a month after the promotion, including VAT.
- Many subpages. According to the pricing page, 100 on the Plus plan, 500 on Pro. That is more than with many other builders.
- Domain and email in the package.
- Provider from Germany with customer service by phone.
- Choice of term. Promotional plan with 12 months, or cancellable monthly at a higher price.
What speaks against STRATO?
- Minimum term and notice. 12 months on the promotional plan, and according to STRATO you have to cancel one month before the end of the term.
- Domain is tied to the package. According to STRATO, cancelling the package cancels the domains too, and a storno returns them immediately.
- Add-on products. SSL, SEO tools and extended support add up when nobody checks the invoice.
- No export. STRATO only describes a static copy of the site.
- Your own work on text, images and structure.
Is STRATO good for Google?
The builder delivers the usual basics. With 100 subpages on the Plus plan there is enough room to explain every service on its own page, which matters for findability. Whether the site is found then depends mostly on content, loading time and your Google Business Profile. More in the guide Why is my website not found?.
Who is STRATO right for?
For businesses that want to build for themselves cheaply and for the long term, with domain and email from one source. If you keep an eye on your contract and book add-on products deliberately, you get a lot for little money at STRATO.
STRATO is less of a fit if you have no time for the site, want an individual design, or want to own your website independently of the provider.
What do we hear from STRATO customers?
Of the first 35 customers at freeehouse in October 2026, 5 came from STRATO. The most common worry: what happens to the domain and to the many email addresses created over the years? Our answer was the same in every case: they stay as they are. One prospect explicitly valued the protection against cease-and-desist letters (Abmahnungen) that he had booked with his STRATO package. Building blocks like that should be replaced or kept deliberately before a switch.
If what bothers you most about STRATO is looks and work: freeehouse rebuilds your site with no build cost, and domain and email stay. You only pay for hosting, cheaper than today. Claim your spot on the waiting list
Checklist: stay with STRATO or switch?
- 1
Are you happy with the looks and features of your site?
- 2
Do you have time to look after it yourself?
- 3
Do you know exactly which packages and add-on products are running?
- 4
Is your domain safe, even if you cancel a package?
- 5
Is the builder's range of features enough for you?
If you answer yes to everything, stay with STRATO and just check the add-on products. If there are several noes, it is worth a look at the alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
Is STRATO reputable?
Yes. STRATO is a large, established host from Berlin.
Is the STRATO builder good?
For simple sites that you maintain yourself, yes, mainly thanks to the cheap long-term price. For individual design and little work on your side, there are better ways.
Can I cancel monthly at STRATO?
Yes, on the plan without the promotion. According to the pricing page, Plus then costs €15 a month plus €15 setup.
What is the biggest trap at STRATO?
That the domain is tied to the package. If you cancel or storno the package without moving the domain first, you lose it.
