How do I cancel my Wix plan step by step?
According to the Wix help pages, cancellation is done entirely online:

Log in to your Wix account.

Open the Premium subscriptions section.

For the plan of the website in question, click the three-dot menu.

Choose cancellation and confirm it.
Alternatively you can just switch off automatic renewal. The plan then runs to the end and expires by itself. A cancellation letter is not necessary. Services that send a cancellation letter for a fee are not needed for this.
Do I get money back at Wix?
According to Wix, you get the full amount back if you cancel within 14 days of first buying a plan. The plan then ends immediately. For renewals and after this period there is usually no partial refund, and the plan keeps running until the end of the paid time.
What happens to my website after cancellation?
According to Wix, the site stays online after the plan ends, but on a free Wix address and with Wix ads. Your own domain then no longer points to the site. According to the Wix help pages you cannot export it, because a Wix website only runs on Wix's servers.
In practice that means: before you cancel, the new website should be finished and ready to go online. Otherwise there is a gap in which customers find nothing at your address.
What happens to the domain at Wix?
According to Wix, a domain bought through Wix is not cancelled when you cancel the plan. You switch off its automatic renewal separately, and only if you really no longer need it or have moved it to another provider beforehand. If you simply let a domain expire, someone else can register it after a grace period.

In which order do I cancel correctly?
From our moves in October 2026, this order has proved itself. Two customers wanted to cancel everything with their old provider straight after saying yes, including domain and email. That would have cost them their mailboxes.

Finish building and checking the new website; the old one stays online meanwhile.

Find out where your domain and your mailboxes are. At Wix or elsewhere?

Point the domain to the new website. Only one record changes, the email records stay.

Spend a few days checking that website and email work.

Only then cancel the Wix plan or switch off renewal.

Only cancel the domain once it has safely been moved.

What happens to Wix apps, bookings and my customers' subscriptions?
Extra apps with their own fee and pricing plans that you sell to your own customers through Wix are separate contracts or features. Before cancelling, check under Subscriptions which apps are running, and export customer data, bookings and form entries you want to keep. After the plan ends, some features will be missing even if the site is still reachable.

Can you cancel Wix monthly?
With monthly payment the plan ends at the end of the current month. Monthly payment costs more per month than yearly payment.
Is my domain cancelled if I cancel Wix?
No. According to Wix, a domain bought through Wix keeps running separately from the plan. You switch off its renewal separately.
Does my Wix site stay online after cancellation?
Yes, according to Wix on a free Wix address with ads. It is then no longer reachable under your own domain.
Do I need a cancellation letter?
No, cancellation is done in your account. Still, take a screenshot of the confirmation and keep the confirmation email.
